I’ve been recently drawn to the idea of using one words to provide a powerful mantra or guidance in difficult times. It dawned on me that I have been subconsciously using this one word idea to motivate me for years.
I looked around my home and took pictures of one words in form of ornaments or posters etc that I have bought over the years. I had even TATTOOED one powerful word on my wrist – ‘BELIEVE’ many years ago.
Earlier this year, I accompanied my good mate to have a one word tattoo done on her shoulders (a Chinese symbol for LOVE). Obviously, a word significant to her. I can also see how she actually practices it in her life.
Since going through an extremely tough time last year, I have a list of one words that have become very meaningful to me over time. Each stands out depending on what I am going through at that time which could be just for the day, a week or months.
My powerful words include:
- Believe (A tattoo to always remind me:))
- Gratefulness
- Laugh
- Play/Fun
- Slow
- Mindfulness
- Breath
- Compassion
- Meditate
- Miracles
- Patience
- Trust
- Self-confidence
- Adventure
- Relax/Rest
- Surrender
- Being
It might be a good idea to write the words that you are drawn to you on separate piece of paper and pick one randomly when you feel the need for guidance.
For example, if ‘laugh’ or ‘play’ comes up then maybe you are struggling because you are taking life too seriously so having a good laugh or being playful may be the best course of action.
What are your powerful words? Has using a one word mantra helped you in the past? What word can you focus on for your current struggle?
